. per their dads request after asking him what he thought I should do I take my sons to Urgent care... it was 8:30 they close at 9- their were no other patients before I even gave my information I asked if they could take us or if it was too late... I was perfectly willing to wait it out and see how the night went and try again tomorrow... I felt bad because I work in a doctors office myself and I know how bothersome it can be to have those last minuet patients when you just want to go home... however the nurse/tech was very very kind and said no that is alright it should not take long we can take them... As I am giving our information and filling out paperwork Dr. Cameron comes out and says exactly this "Well just what is the problem? A little cough...? I mean come on I have kids and they can last the night with a little cough!!! They aren't babies! We can't have overtime we get in trouble if we do.... I will work 10 hours a day I don't care but they cannot have overtime..." He even got nasty about me being a step parent as though I am incompetent and have no business with children... I had to interrupt him and say yes I have permission to bring them their info insurance cards and photo ID... I said it is fine I will take them to the emergency room or some place else or just wait and see if it gets worse over night... but before I could finish... and the tech apologized for his actions (which she shouldn't have had to do because he was the one who was UNCALLED FOR!) he proceeded to storm off telling the techs to get their vitals and was super nice to my kids however after that initial greeting I got from Dr. Cameron... it was all I could do not to go off on him for the way he treated me... I literally paced back and forth outside the room before I went in to make sure I could hold my cool... I was literally holding back tears of anger and hurt... not wanting to set a bad example in front of my children I went with it knowing I would just get rushed care... and sent on my way with a "hes a big boy so he can suck it up and make it through" diagnosis. Instead of having a melt down on him I had a melt down in my truck on the drive home in front of my children I mean burst into tears I have never felt so terrible after leaving a place thinking I was doing the right thing from the word go... So my kids on top of having a hacking cough now feel bad like they did something wrong because I feel so bad like I did something wrong... so here it is almost 11pm and there is my son in the bedroom coughing so hard he can't sleep... After pretty much calling me a dumb poor excuse for a step-parent he then tried to make small talk with me after he checked out my children... I didn't want him to have overtime I looked at my watch as we left it was 9:04 so the 4 extra minutes you have to pay that staff I humbly apologize for... you should have stopped trying to over compensate for being such a bully when I first came in... I will admit he was at least kind to the kids... Yellow pages if I told my best friend about this place, I'd say: This doctor has the initial bedside manner of Gaddafi and I would not recommend him.... HeatherDawnKiepper

Overall

I happened to get Dr. Cameron tonight as my Urgent care doctor. I understand a heavy cough may not be considered urgent. However I have never in my life been talked to so terribly and made to feel so bad by a doctor! I have 2 step sons- I recently got over a very very nasty bacterial infection that left me not able to turn my neck and I am still getting over it... I took mucinex and it made my seemingly simple cough and head cold turn into the worst infection of my life... concerned it could turn into the same issue for them and wanting to address it before it gets any worse and considering they still had a cough since we dropped them off at their moms two weeks ago....I decide perhaps I should take them to stat care because as the night goes on one of my sons cough manages to get progressively worse.... so being the weekend parents and knowing the during the week parent will not take them to the doctor if they need to go...
