Cool museum of the Cape Verdean people, one of the few places you can find in Rhode Island where immigrants get to tell their own story. Not very big, but lots to explore.

Slavery, the cranberry bogs, Morna, whaling, immigration, Independence from Portugal... This museum covers so much in such a small space. It was really well done and has so many interesting pieces- really unique things you won't find anywhere else. The Boston Globe just wrote about how it is an important place for Cape Verdeans- they really made this into a museum! This museum was built by the community and it really shows and there are so many great old photos of dinner parties and fundraisers and the longshoremen on their picnics.... I wish more people knew about this place because it taught me a lot and I felt a special connection to it.
