Calaveras Lake Park

Me and my family went September 5 2016 the staff was friendly the only folks going to catch fish is folks with boats if u bank fishing and pier fishing u not going to catch nothing but a bad headache and the grass was not cut don't buy no bait at the gas station where u turn to go to the lake and don't buy bait at Calaveras lake also all bad bait the minute u throw your line out your bait coming off me and my family will never fish there again a waste of gas and money if u go fishing take the trip to corpus Christi

Lots of negative comments on net about ridiculous kayak fees. They would not answer phone before I left regarding fees. I store my kayaks on trailer for simplicity and had four when I arrived. They wanted 6.00 for each one though I told them I could only paddle one. I lwft after telling them I would go to Boerne Lake, or Canyon Lake, or Lake Travis, or Mission Reach, or downtown SA River, or San Marcos, etc., where they don't charge anything for multiple boats....most with no entree fees. This lake was built for generating electricity and cost for that justifies it. Typical utility monopoly mindset.

Park staff are extremley rude. We were charged boat prices for 2 kayaks that were not wven going in the water there. Park staff stopped by our camp site more than once, got out checked our sticker that we paid and told us we better be out or pay by 10 am the next morning. No showers. Campsites were over grown. Weeds and grass were over a foot tall so camping was horrible. Went out on boat came back and had to run people off our campsite. The fiah cleaning area had buckets and buckets of cleaned fish and a million flies everywhere. Dead fish floating in water all over the place. I will never go back and have filed complaints. I do not reccomend this place for any reason. This is the only review I have ever wrote, it was that bad.
