My wife & I went 4 times for the very same guinea pig being displayed for 7 days. First employee said it should be ready by wed (3days); came back on thurs just to be told its not ready yet. They said perhaps on wkend. Came back again on friday and told the same thing and again on saturday. When is wkend? And they said its sunday when the manager will be there.
Guess what? I just went there for the same guinea pig which has gotten way big now, and the staff that met us on thursday still said that its not ready. The manager is not around and yes the reason is that the guinea pig is too small. I just went to petco to see the guinea pigs sold there and they are of smaller size. I dont know what the employee is doing and the manager is never at the store. The staff is unsure when the manager will be at the store & giving false information about when the animal will be ready. Do you need even a manager to be at the store? The salary for these people can be used to better treat the animals.

I also worked for Rumford Pet Centers, and will never EVER tell ANYONE to shop there for anything. Management is an absolute mess and cares nothing for the animals. How many hamsters and birds had got sick and died because of non-proper care? Lots. When mentioned to manager, was told we only cared about the puppies. Puppies may be from "breeders" but they are not respectable ones. Once a puppy came in and it "didn't look like" the particular breed that was on the paperwork sent from the breeder, so guess what? Management went into the computer, changed the breed, and printed a brand new paper. Also, puppies come in, in deplorable conditions. 6-10 puppies in a crate and the floor all full of urine and feces, plus they would be covered in it. This was on the truck, traveling for a week, they would come in with no water. I felt so bad for these dogs. I reported the company to the RISPCA... I was told I needed "Proof"... isn't it proof enough that not only me, an employee of the company report them, but customers as well? I avoid even looking at this store. I have NIGHTMARES about working there. And true, Animal Care people were very understaffed, had one person to feed, medicate, and de-worm hundreds of dogs, which would take hours to do. Also, large dogs that outgrew the crate sizes they had would have to suffer with the crate in their back when they stood up. This is an awful company to shop in and to work for. Wish I could give it negative stars.

Staff is friendly, and knowledgeable. I asked about the dog food I was buying and was reassured and got reassuring answers. I would recommend Rumford's to everyone.

Employees only care about the money that they can make with walk-ins; even at that they roll their eyes at you like every question is so bothersome to them. Don't bother to call! I was left on hold for 45 minutes with a question about how many female mini lop rabbits they had in stock. I've been there before and I know that the rabbits are in clear view from the cashier who could have easily taken a few steps to answer my question. Prices are astronomical and the service isn't worth it! Save your time and money and go to Petco!!

It all sounded good until you get home!!

We were not given any information or details on our breed. I know you should do your own research but there should be trained staff to make sure that the dog is going home with someone who can accommodate it. You should care enough about the dogs to talk with the customers to make sure they understand what this particular puppy will need. If they are looking for different qualities in a dog - help them select a different breed. We didn't receive our refund check for the puppy's 1st vet visit, we were told just have them checked at the vet & we would be reimbursed for the costs. They don't tell you that you will get a refund check in 2-3 weeks. Also, the dog had a nasty respiratory infection, and wasn't dewormed fully. Not only did we leave that pet store spending $1,300.00 for the dog, some food and a toy - we had to put him thru the deworming process again (poor baby) & pay for it out of our pocket. Do your research!!! For that much money - you should receive better service!!!!!
