Rented a old beat up pontoon. They basically blamed us for previous damage to keep 100. security deposit .

Owners are crooks and rent junk boats to people at a premium then blame the damage on the unsuspecting renters and charge their card, stay anywhere else rent anywhere else. These people are leeches and far from a good family owned friendly business

I see the past 2 reviews and I do NOT understand them. This week 2/3/12 we had a horrible snowstorm in Northern Michigan. I live in Roscommon and lost my power for 3 days. Due to a LARGE number of power outages, hotel/motels accepting guests were few and far between. I came across this establishment and called and not only did they have a vacancy for me but were so beyond kind to me about the last notice reservation. They gave me a GREAT rate due to my circumstances, and even bent their strict "no pet " policy to allow my chihuahua to stay so he didn't freeze at my home with no power. The room was one of the cleanest I have ever been in. I have stayed in MANY hotels with rooms in worse shape. It smelled good. Was VERY clean. The beds were comfortable, as were the pillows. I enjoyed my stay, and my husband and myself will be back for sure! Just because a person or two have a bad experience doesnt mean its a bad business. Way to go Krobinskis! I cant thank you enough for your hospitality during my stay and cant wait to come back this summer!!!!

Do NOT stay here. I reserved a room 1/18/12 for Jan 26th-29th. I called back 1/23/12 to tell Linda I may need to cancel due to wife's grandfather's illness. He then dies, I call back later that day on the 23rd to tell her. She tells me to get a death certificate and she'll discuss the circumstances with her husband about a refund. I then call back tuesday twice as she him-hawes around. We take grandpa to West Virginia for burial. Drive down the 26th bury him the 27th. I take pictures of myself next to the casket & headstone. I then email AND fax death certificate and pictures, call her to request the credit and she gives me the "I'm really busy, I fell and hurt my hip, need to go to the Doctor" put-off, "call back another time". A couple days later I finally get ahold of her and she wants to give a 5month "store credit". I told her my credit card company already said they'd rule in my favor, but she still wouldn't give a refund on a room I cancelled 4 days prior and truth be known she probably rented it out anyway because in her words the TUT fest turnout was great. I know businesses in MI are hurting, but, why does greed have to get in the way of compassion and common courtesy? I hated to miss the fest to drive 7 hours to bury my mother-in-law's father, trust me, but to get dinged for $257 rubs salt in the wound. Last year we took our chances and found a room, I guess it's that way from now on with these mom & pops. I warned of bad Karma, slip/fall may have happened for a reason. I feel sorry for such people, but, I WON'T STAY THERE AGAIN!!!

Let me see where to start, first myself and a few friends took a vacation to Houghton Lake and found this motel. I should have known after reviewing there website that looks like it was set up by a middle school student. We were charged $95 dollars a night for a 2 queen bed room. We purchased 2 rooms for 2 nights. The rooms smelt horrible. It was a combination of musk and mold. We even went a bought our own air fresheners for the rooms. We got had a small fridge in our room that was infested with ants. Our screen door was ripped open and there was no air conditioning. Not to mention the beds were harder than the floor. We paid $95 dollars a night? I just stayed at a holiday inn for $90 a night and that was a 2 bedroom suite!!! The rooms were poor but now on to the boat rental. Our reservations were made within a month of our stay and both credit cards secured the room and boat. We were charged $400 dollars for a 24' Pontoon boat that was in horrible condition. Our reservations we never written down so we got the crumbiest boat available. The boat canopy was ripped, seats stained, smelled like mold, and the motor barely got us from point A to B. We returned the boat 2 hours early was charged $5 dollars a gallon for 2 gallons of gas. Not a good place of business. Here is the best part. We made friends with 3 other rooms at this motel. We all hung out in the common area. People were playing cards and listening to music till about midnight. Someone supposedly pulled a 4X4 wooden pole out of the ground that night. I woke up at 7 am and went for a walk and seen a few cans around the camp fire so I picked up the area, even though they weren't ours and everything was perfectly fine. We get off the boat from being out all day and some old man yells at us from the office,” your getting charged for that pole!” We said first off who are you and what are you talking about? He said again that pole you damaged and if you have issues we will call the police. I said well call them cause I have no idea what your talking about. We go to the office to settle this because I notice a $100 dollar charge on my Credit Card. He tells me he has a witness say that they seen someone he thinks from my room that pulled this pull out and damaged it so he’s charging my card. First this pole had a hair line crack in it and second he has no idea who did it but is going to charge me for something we didn’t do even though there were 4 other rooms out in this common area. Regardless of the piece of 4X4 untraded wood, we were charged because we were in the general area yet no one knows who did it. POOR BUSINESS. We would catch them talking about us as we were walking to the lake and giving us bad looks then stop as we got closer. We spend $1000 dollars there in 2 nights and that’s how there guest are treated? Looks like they lost a few more guests for next year. If your going to take the time to plan a nice vacation, please use a different Motel and do some research. They made it look way better than it was and do nothing but hassle there guests.

90 days later. I disputed the unauthorized charge with my bank and was awarded the hundred dollars back. Looks like they lost and had to eat the cost of the 20 dollar wood. I would have had no problem telling them which people were to blame for the vandalism, since they were not in our group. After being accused of something we didn’t do, why should I help them? We all work for different municipalities down state and are in our early 30’s. Does that mean going on a vacation weather it is to drink and relax, means you give someone a gross party boat. Not to mention all the boats had the same consistency of rips, stains, and mold. This was poor business. If anyone had an issue with us, then come tell us like adults. You want to go to a nice motel, I suggest check some where else. If you don’t believe me about the quality of this establishment, refer back the name of the hotel. Good day
