Overall

I bought fish from this one store bootleg over priced Mom and Pops shop at the advice of a store employee who they claimed was a expert. He sold me 3 Albino Tetra fish that he promised me would be able to handle their self in a fish tank with a aggressive chiclid. Which was bad/horrible advice!!!! I tried to return the fish based on the horrible advice they gave me, but they wouldn't honor the warranty or their word. I made a consumer complaint against this store and ofcourse the store owner "LIED" and said I bought the fish against the store advise. And the owner also lied to this consumer agency about he spoke to me multiple times about my purchase which was determined to be a lie since I tried to returned the fish and made my consumer complaint before 24 hours had past. I also bought another fish back before I got out the store good because I noticed a fish had a bloated belly and was in bad shape. Buyer beware!!!! You know you in trouble when your receipt say 48 hour warranty on fish.

Very nice fresh and salt water fish selection to stock your aquarium. Staff has always been helpful and knowledgeable in their suggestions. I have shopped here for 15 years with good luck. I enjoy the remodeled store and good selection of freshwater plants.

The Reef has a good selection ...

The Reef has a good selection of unusual fish. I have had both salt water and fresh water aquariums for decades and have even worked many summers in various pet stores and aquarium specialty shops (I'm a school teacher with summers off). I tend to make my home aquariums 'specialized'. For example I currently have 2 tanks with Tanganyika Cichlids that house seldom seen varieties. The Reef has been accommodating with finding unusual species and helping me ensure my water chemistry is spot on. They are very knowledgable and helpful. The prices can be a little high, however having a knowledgable staff, quality merchandise, and healthy unusual livestock is going to demand a higher price than your run-of-the-mill pet store. I feel it is justified and fair.

The staff need a lesson in how to speak with customers. They spoke down to me as if I was some child who didn't know anything. I've had fish for 13 years, I do know what I am dealing with. I do not appreciate being spoken to the way they did. Their fish look sick and unhealthy and I saw several dead being eaten by other fish. I would never recommend the place to anyone.

Yea for The Reef

I also think the prices are a little up there, however, this is a privately owned business. When my tank was trashed by a break in, they went the extra mile for me. They do know what they are doing and don't sell what you don't need. OK I did not need that 28 cube, but I wanted it. I like the people and I don't shop else where. They also keep both live and frozen foods, which is important to me. You go Reef!

The Reef

They had great selection of both fresh and salt water fish. I went on a saturday and they were very busy but I still got quick service and excellent advice. This is the only place I'll go for fish again!

Overpriced

I don't know if myself and the other person shopped at the same place. Who pays $100 for a small emperor, I think even uncle bills isn't that high. Save yourself some time and money, look up www.premiumaquatics.com it's in indy and they're open on the weekends. Prices are better, people are more knowledgeable in my opinion, and they know how to get you set up right. I found the place a year or so ago and haven't bought elsewhere since! I still look around at other places feeling hopeful, but I'm always let down.

I am sorry that you had a bad experience at my shop. Its not fair to compare my shop to an internet based company, we strive to offer the public the lowest prices available from the best vendors possible. Our staff is highly knowlegeable and well trained and will only set you up properly. Our staff will not just sell you things to be selling things. I appreciate your comments and always welcome negative feed back, it only makes us better. I would like to invite you back and discuss this with you in person and see if we can change your opinon.

This place is great! I found more variety at this store than anywhere else in the city.

The staff is knowlegeable and acctually took the time to talk with me and answer all my questions. They even stopped me from buying a $100.00 Emperor Angel because it would eat my corals. Most places would of sold it to me with the attitude of "I should of known better". I did get some other fish and added a couple of pieces of corals to my tank and they are all doing great. Thanks guys and keep up the great job.
