Overall
horrible customer service, try to overcharge

The employees at this post office tend to be very slow and inefficient. Lines move ridiculously slow, and most of the employees aren't very polite. They've tried to overcharge me on packages several times- I pay for postage online, drop it off at the PO, then occasionally find it in my lock box the next day with an 'additional postage due' sticker on it. I have a digital scale; it's accurate. They seem to look for any way they can to overcharge. Once they claimed that a package that was mailed to me* didn't have enough postage, and that in order to get the package I'd have to pay the difference. I found this to be odd, since I was the recipient. They claimed due to it's size (it was in a small envelope, with just a little bulge- had a Gameboy game cartridge in it), it belonged in another category which cost more. I didn't feel like arguing, so I paid what they claimed I owed. Later that day I contacted the seller that sold me the item- he said he'd mailed literally hundreds of packages identical to mine (he specializes in selling Gameboy games) - and that only a few post offices caused a problem. He also said that previously he'd taken a same size & weight package to 4 of his area post offices; they all said the same thing- that it belonged in the class he was mailing under; that the postage he was affixing was correct. Basically, the post office at 640 Clematis makes it's own rules.

The latest example- as usual, I purchased my postage online. This was a large, heavy package, and the USPS site required measurements. I weighed and measured it accurately. The next day the people at the front desk of the building in which I live told me that my package had been returned, due to insufficient postage. As stated previously, this was a heavy package- I had to take it to the post office a second time to get things sorted out. Needless to say, I was aggravated. The woman at the counter said what I supposedly owed, and was waiting for payment. I asked her why I was being charged the extra amount. She measured it, input the measurements into her computer... and it apparently told her what I paid initially was the correct amount. Naturally, not wanting to be wrong..she re-measured. Same result. She said I didn't owe any additional postage. No apology for the inconvenience, nothing. If anything, she acted like I was some sort of troublemaker for questioning it to begin with.

Since this has happened to me several times in just the year I've been going to this post office, I can only imagine how much extra money they're making off of others. I bet most people don't question it. If they ever pull this nonsense with you- speak up!
