I wish there was a zero. Then place is ridiculous! So many things wrong! I bought my guinea pig from there and the cages were way to small! The rats and gerbils were kept in terrible terrible conditions! The chinchillas were huddled together ON WIRE! Who in the right mind keeps animals on WIRE! The rabbits were in way way to call cages! Aqua land needs to be shut down! Terrible place never getting my buisness again! The only animals who were treated right were the snakes and lizards! Very sad to have to see these poor animals suffer!

Went to Aqualand to purchase a fish for my daughter and almost gagged walking in the door. The room where the fish were contained was very poorly lit. There were no overhead lights turned on and the lighting in the tanks was not always adequate. I watched a couple use a flashlight app on their phone to try and view some saltwater fish. The entire store smells and isn't ventilated properly for the number of animals they keep. The small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs are all kept wire cages about the size of a cat carrier. None of the them had anything to play with or nibble on. More than one rabbit was too big for the wire cage it was being kept in as they had very little room to move around (just enough to turn around). I am fairly certain that two of the guinea pigs had mange or something similar as they were nearly bald. For that matter none of rabbits that I saw appeared to be in good health. They were all listless and didn't show any interest in their environment. Cages of animals were sitting on the floor haphazardly. Everything from the animal cages to the shelves and products looked worn and dirty. I will never shop their again and I did report my concerns to ARL's animal cruelty division. This place is a nightmare and no animal should be subjected to it.

I'm a south sider so I usually go to Petco to purchase my feeder rats. Have any of you smelled Petco? When I'm on that side of town I always stop here. They have always been courteous with me. Every pet shop who carries a large variety has a smell, EVERY one of them. As a pet owner we should know how to inspect an animal for mites etc. They have a return period for any sick pets or pets that die. Yes, there are feeder animals there, it's the cycle of life. I have a 6 foot Boa that will only eat live rats, she has to get her food from somewhere, just as we do. I love this place.

Where can I call to report this place? It can't be legal to walk into a place and have the animals out walking around on the shelves...is it? Small unhealthy conditions. So sad.

Extremely dirty, smelly, and cramped. The owner (or manager) was condescending and smug when I asked about an antibiotic powder that I needed to soak my bird's foot. Telling me that I would need to find a "benevolent vet who would write me a prescription, as this was the reason that drug resistant bacteria was taking over." None of this would have prompted me to write any kind of review, but, as I was looking around the store, I came across a dog crate with half grown chickens. They were labeled "Tastes like chicken!" and were being sold as 'feeder chickens' for animals.

P.S. I got on line and ordered the (non-prescription) medicine from a reputable supplier.

good

Aqua land has had its off days... but recently they have updated their store. The lizards are more clean, so are the fish and rodents. The people are nice and the birds look healthy. I've had no real trouble here.

that smell and rudeness

Very rude people, i asked a few simple questions about some insects they had and was treated like a total idiot. Couldnt fight the eye watering stink any longer so wasnt there long, dont go to this business unless you have a gas mask.

My family and I have been purchasing pets from Aqualand Pets since I was a young child and I am now an adult.

Currently, we have a healthly bearded dragon(2+ years old) and a sand goby fish (5+ years old). Our beardie even won an award from Petco for most beautiful beardie.

I love the variety of unique reptiles and fish they offer at their store.

Mike and his staff are well educated and very helpful. Mike is very passionate about his animals in general and even particpates in community events.

This place smells. It is not big enough for its animals. I have bought rats, fish, and gotten a couple lizards. I followed their recommendations for care of the animals and they died after a couple weeks. One rat I bought was pregnant. I did not know this until it gave birth and I became over run with rats because they were all breeding in a small cage. That was years ago. I talked to someone about the sugar gliders and all the information they gave me was wrong. They had a pair in a small cage. Sugar gliders need attention so they are not mean... pet shops cannot give the animals the attention they need.. especially if the animals are nocturnal. One picture on their website shows a sugar glider with a clouded over eye. If they got that glider from a local breeder and its eye was like that it should not have been bought to be resold and if the eye was not like that before they bought it.. then they are not caring for them properly. I think that place needs shut down. Prices are too high, the place is dirty and stinky.

If you love animals, don't buy from this business. They are way overpriced and are unable to care for the number of animals they have. All of them are stuffed into a minimal space, often times not nearly enough. Some of the animals are very filthy, and the reptile I purchased was completely infested with mites and needs immediate medical care. The bird I purchased was all but traumatized by the sales person chasing it around with a net. (I actually picked the bird up myself for its own sake.)

The prices are outrageous, and some animals that desperately need to be isolated are immediately thrown up for sale, completely unhandled, wild with fear, and in need of medical care.

On top of that, the place has outrageous prices. It's freaking ridiculous. I'd almost call it theft. All the pets I've purchased from this place are partially traumatized, aggressive, or unhealthy. Do not buy. Do not support this business.

I traveled 80 miles to visit aqualand just to experience their variety. Instead of a store for cats and dogs, they have supplies for higher end pet owners who enjoy an exotic taste in life. Please read on. (Despite my below commentary, they have a great fish selection with about 90% of them in appropriate sized tanks. Very clean.)

It was just okay. The animals were there, but it wasn't exceptional positive living conditions. Just the minimums and cheapest toys/containers. They had variety, but it was WAAAAAAY overpriced. If you are as experienced as I am in the pet trade, you'd be appalled by what they think their animals are worth! A lot of animals were $30-75 overpriced. Some even more. A small iguana for 125? A regular morph year old red tail boa for 250? Please.

Aqualand pets don't take very good care of their pets. Almost EVERY single animal is in the minimal size enclosure and crowded. Some of them are very dirty. (The animals themselves.) My iguana had red spider mites and had so much competition from the numbers of animals stuffed into his tank that he didn't get to bask often at the store. When he got home, he was very happy to say the least.

They don't isolate birds when they arrive. Two tiels that were scared to death were bashing themselves on the side of the cage from fear, completely unhandled and up for sale. Feathers were missing from them pecking each other, but no one would separate them. The handler who got our new pet birds was rough and crude in trying to catch them. One escaped and he couldn't catch it without going to go get a net. (Use a towel for larger birds people.) I actually captured it MYSELF while he was gone, simply by asking her to 'step up' and letting her fly to my shoulder. That is where she was sitting when he got back.
