Overall

The staff was friendly, but the owner was useless. We've had 2 bad experiences here:

- First bad experience: We bought a used tank that we were told was up and running recently so we figured we'd be fine. When we got it home we filled it with tap water outside to make sure it wasn't going to leak and ruin our floors. Unfortunately the tank leaked and when we came back and talked to the owner about it he said to just "slather some more silicone on top of the existing seals and it should be fine". Before we'd gone to the store I'd done some research online and this is the exact opposite of everything I'd read. Everything I can find says that the old silicone must be removed entirely before the new silicone is applied or the new seal(s) will leak. My wife was not comfortable relying on those seals to keep the water in the tank and off the floor. I was willing to let it go and consider it my fault for not having them show me that the tank could hold water before we paid/took the tank home so we bought a new tank from somewhere else.

- Second bad experience: Before we found the tank was leaking we needed to figure out a way to hang the lights over the tank/stand and they'd mentioned some light hangers so we went back to check them out. We liked the one they showed us in the store and the light we were planning on using had 4 mounting points so we bought 2 of the light hangers to give it a more symmetrical/better look. 2 weeks had gone by before I was in a position to mount the lights and when I took the second light hanger out of the box I discovered it was rusty and the paint was flaking. What had been sold to us as a new light hanger looked like it had been heavily used and abused. We took it back to the store and asked for a refund because at his point everything they'd sold us had been defective. The employees didn't know how to do a refund and had to call the store owner to talk to him about it. They offered to spray paint it black and when we said no to that they said that they could exchange it for the same item and that they might have another one in the back. We were not happy with that as a solution since it was rusting in the box and if it's rusting in the box there's no hope of it not rusting above a salt water tank. We politely asked for a refund and were told that they wouldn't do a refund. The guy at the register seemed like he was genuinely trying to help us, but the owner (who had to approve the refund) wanted nothing to do with us and even went so far as to say that he didn't want to think about it today.

Needless to say we will not be going back and I'll be filing a complaint with my credit card company to try to get at least one of the charges reversed since the merchandise they sold us in both cases was defective.
