Babcock & Miles Ltd

Babcock & Miles is a great addition to Red Lodge. It's a gourmet shop for the kind of people who come to Red Lodge wanting something just a little special, but without haughtiness. The cheese selection is excellent, but having Lee or Karen recommend the right wine to go with the cheese is what draws me back. The building itself is inviting. In the middle of town, but just around the corner from main street, the yellow building has been there for a long while, but now it has a difference. The architect/owner Drew Porth installed geothermal heating, balanced the windows, and added a room with a flat roof that in the summer will be covered with sod. Inside, that room houses a great wine selection. I tried a Sicilian white for $11 that was very good, and my parents bought the best $10 bottle of champagne I've ever tried. They have more expensive and excellent wines, of course, but the options suit everyone's price point. I encourage everyone to give it a try.
