Wood's High Mountain Distillery was born on a raft trip in the Grand Canyon over 20 years ago. While sipping whiskey in one of the most inspiring places on earth, PT Wood decided to pursue the dream of handcrafting his own spirits in downtown Salida. The dream soon became reality and PT and his brother, Lee partnered together to make it happen. We found our current home and after major renovations, installed “Ashley” our antique 1880s era German copper pot still. Wood’s launched November 13, 2012. In 2018, Ashley was given some much-needed help with the addition of two new 2400-liter stills and a 20-plate column. Currently, the distillery produces American Malt Whiskeys, Alpine Rye Whiskey, three styles of gin, Elderflower Liqueur, and Colorado Potato Vodka along with other ongoing projects. The Tasting Room is open daily and tours are available by appointment.
