Overall

The minimal training the kids that work here receive was split between safety and covid this year, and it really showed when it came to ride safety.

First thing we saw was a child take her seat belt off in the bumper cars, get out and help her smaller sibling who was stuck in the corner. Nothing was done and nothing was said. Ride operated noticed and watched for 2 minutes while other cars operated around her before finally just stopping the ride because she never got back in.

At the Ferris Wheel they kept running the same people around and around (some of whom were saying they wanted off) and discussing a problem with the ride in whispered tones to each other. We were only people in line and left after 10 minutes or so as they didnt seem to know how to handle the issue they were having.

Last came riding the cliffhanger with my 10 year old daughter. When the safety harness came down (it is automatic & hydraulically locks in place) her left arm was pinned underneath (instead of behind) the safety harness and the armrest. Her right arm was not in properly either as she was turned to the side, it was stuck in the middle along with her head. Despite all that, the young ride operator walked right on by and retracted the bridge to start the ride.

This is when she told me her arm was stuck and I began yelling for the operator to return because she wasnt in right, yelling to not start the ride. He never returned. Think about that, NEVER! He either left or simply ignored us. It was an employee that was passing by the ride -off work- that heard me screaming and came to help and re-seat us.

After bringing it to lagoons attention, they completely dismissed the issue. "Maybe" the employee needs more training they said. My daughter would have been just fine if they started the ride. Their only concern was in making sure we knew they had done nothing wrong and were in no way liable for their poorly trained employees poor training. You are not safe at lagoon in 2020!

We had a blast doing the thrill rides (didn't do the water park). Cannibal and Rocket are first-rate and hold their own against any rides anywhere. $10 for all-day locker rental is reasonable and worth it. -1 for keeping tigers locked up where they cannot possibly be happy. Lagoon would be better without them.

Overall

I was distraught with my visit to lagoon recently. The lack of trained personnel mixed with the amount of employees that could comunícate in English was very disappointing. My family had a medical issue while we were at the park. I had to explain what I needed for the person to cease the issue multiple times. They are not trained for emergencies. They are unable to communicate when needed. I do have to say, when we did finally get someone from the medical staff, they were awesome. Unfortunately we were unable to continue our adventure in the park. It is quite possible my family had just been there for the trainees time to shine. I like the exchange program to allow persons from other countries to experience something new. I would say at the very least have them gain acceptable communication skills.
