Cabela's

This is a fantastic store for all types of outdoor enthusiasts! The places if packed with all kinds of hunting fishing displays and they sell a large variety of hunting and fishing equipment, including boats. They are not cheap but you can find there most whatever you are looking for. They have a really nice selection of classic guns there too if you are looking for an addition to your collection.
In regards to the other reviewer complaining about the time it takes to buy a new gun, I'm afraid he does not understand the current situation with gun sales, primarily because of all the recent mass shootings. I work as an outdoor salesman at Dicks, a nationwide competitor, and it generally takes up to 30 minutes to purchase a gun from us. We have a computerized system that take the salesman through all the steps and it still takes time. Its not like the old days where you went in to your local hardware store, plunked down $50 and walked out with a new shotgun. The feds have cracked down and in fact, I myself and personally responsible, as are the managers, to be sure that the gun sale is legit. There are many reasons that would allow us to not sell a firearm to a person that has nothing to do with their background check. And because of all of these precaution, yes it can take a while to buy a gun there. But would you not want gun dealers to carefully check out those coming in to buy a gun?

I am (was) a big fan of Cabela's, until I bought a gun there. As a collector and enthusiast, I buy several guns each year. Taking advantage of a sale price, I went there to purchase a Henry Rifle. It was in stock, I presented my driver's license and Georgia Weapons Carry License. Then began an ordeal that lasted over an hour. Charles had me fill out the necessary paper work, he checked it and had his co-worker check it. Then a person, a supervisor I assumed checked it, some minutes later yet another person reviewed the forms. The survival rifle box was opened and again all four inspected the various components of the gun, Everyone was very polite, my problem was the time expended with all the checking, cross checking and back checking. This transaction should have taken no more than 15 minutes, and it would not have at any of the competitor gun stores. Another customer agreed with me that we would NEVER purchase another firearm at Cabela's!!
