El Paso Winery

The wine here is mediocre in comparison with the wineries on Long Island and the service is even worse. We drove 40 minutes just to visit this little winery because our friends had been there before and liked it. When we arrived we were told that even though their website says the tastings are free we had to pay for the tasting, which we did. The tasting was unprofessional. After our tasting our group bought five bottles of wine including a chilled bottle to drink on their back deck which we presumed was for this purpose (and we were told by the owner that we could). At the LI wineries they encourage you to bring your own cheese & crackers b/c they know you'll buy more wine. NOT the case here. The owner's wife all but asked us to leave because we were eating cheese on the deck that we hadn't purchased from them. She was rude & we left immediately without saying another word. Very unfriendly experience. We won't be back & recommend you don't visit either! Very sad. Very unprofessional.
