The Spurlock Museum collects, preserves, exhibits and documents the objects of cultural heritage. The museum s artifact collection contains more than 40,000 objects that cover over five continents and nearly 1 million years of human cultural history. Its collections include Parthenon frieze casts, Merovingian bronzes, Mesopotamian cuneiform tablets and Amazonian bark clothes. Spurlock Museum s galleries offer stories and information about Ancient Mediterranean, Africa, Asia, Oceania and Europe. Its public areas are available on rental basis for lectures, performances, receptions, dinners, conferences and private tours. The museum additionally maintains an education-resource center and auditorium. Spurlock Museum organizes a range of outreach and in-house programs that includes activities, such as building towers and bridges and jewelry creation. The museum maintains a location in Urbana, Ill.
