Overall

Horrid business, they literally stole our belongings, many were lost, misfiled, simply disappeared with numerous excuses and no recorded sales. we simply received unspecified checks with no detailed explanations at all and noticed as time went on that many items were unaccounted for, we would have fared better at a garage sale. how they stay in business is beyond me, terrible experience that we will never repeat.

When my aunt passed, it was a difficult time for all of us but my family agreed to sell some of her treasures so we could make a donation to her favorite charity since it hadn't made it into her will. After a few bad experiences, we finally found Pacific Galleries and I'm so glad we did. They made the process really simple for us, kept us informed all the way through and made some suggestions for combining lots and getting a couple of the pieces cleaned if we wanted them to look their best. We never felt pressured or rushed and it was actually a really fun experience for us to come together and do this for my aunt. Since people don't talk about good experiences as much as bad ones, we just wanted to thank the staff for being so friendly and treating us so well. Thank you!

Awesome experience. Got much more for my Arts & Crafts pottery than I expected. The auctions are fun to attend as well. The main auctioneer, Mike I believe, is jovial and entertaining to watch. Highly recommend!

Unethical and Dishonest Business

I had several items auctioned off here only to received so little for them it was laughable. My items were several large pieces of furniture from Europe that were priced by the auction house initially at a fair price comparable to what I paid for them. What I ended up with is not even the pick up fee for them which was astronomical. Not only do they not have a starting bid at their auctions, but they do not put any effort into using multiple venues like Ebay and online resources like live aucitoneers to further advertise the items to get better bids which they said they would do. The contract even stated what they would use other resources and list the item at a certain price and use a starting bid yet and co-ordinate all of their actions with me but they never did any of this. Considering what I ended up with I would have gotten a better price had I held a garage sale.

Also the items were mislabeled putting me at a further disadvantage. When I tried to correct that manager he became indignant and told me to mind my own business. The staff was either rude beyond belief or completely clueless and always disorganized, I could never get a straight answer as there was only this one person that I was continuously referred to that was always unavailable or out of the country, On top of all this, I had to pay a hefty moving fee, the movers were late and had to be rescheduled twice. And to add insult to injury they somehow "lost" several other smaller valuable pieces which so far have still not been found. It was also like pulling teeth to get any information on my compensation or when checks would be sent and and they labeled sold items as "miscellaneous" on the receipts probably to confuse me so I wouldn't know what was being sold and when. I found out later that they have a warehouse in another state where they "store" auction items from Seattle which was another red flag for me. I remember one of the employees once saying off the cuff that the rest of my items were in storage just before another employee grabbed the phone and told me that they sold everything and rudely hung up on me. Among so many other questions I had to wonder why they would store auction items in another state that are being sold in Seattle. Words cannot begin to describe what an abysmal experience I had with Pacific Galleries. It was especially heartbreaking for me as I was forced to sell due to financial issues and really needed the money badly, a fact which I feel they took full advantage of. Really awful.

Bad Management and Dishonest Auction House

I gave Pacific Galleries numerous items to auction off for an estate sale. Even though I provided a detailed list for them and photos they somehow never managed to coincide the item with the descriptions and labeled them instead in a manner so that I had no idea what any of the commissions were for. I received checks with "miscellaneous" written on them and other vague and incomprehensible descriptions leaving me to guess just what they were for. When I called on several occasions to try and understand what items the amounts were for, the manager became rude and indignant and began insulting me and calling me names. He stated that all the auction items were gone even though at least two other staff members told me that there were several outstanding items left and one even said they were being stored in a warehouse. Why would an auction house store items that were supposed to be auctioned off in a warehouse and where was this warehouse???? I received so many stories and versions from the employees of what was going on that I have to suspect that either the company is so disorganized it does not have any accurate records at all, that our items were misplaced or that they were intentionally confiscated for personal use or future sales. I am seeking legal action against this company for their misrepresentation of services, reckless business practices, verbal abuse and misappropriation of funds.
