DO NOT ADOPT FROM FRIENDLY PETS!

We adopted what we naively assumed was a calm, well-mannered kitten. Unfortunately his mannerisms were not character traits, but symptoms. It turns out, our poor kitten was lethargic, and diarrhea-ridden with a painful, swollen stomach -- due to a roundworm infection.

On top of this roundworm infection, his ear, and its hairless patch, which we originally thought was the result of some over-eager scratching, was due to a fungal ear infection. As a relatively inexperienced cat-owner, I had no reason to expect this - however I would have thought that a business that centers itself around cats and dogs would have been able to quickly spot this...

So, after our visit to the vet, where we were informed of both infections, I contacted Friendly Pets, explaining what had happened, and asking that they do the right thing, and reimburse us for our bill. I asked, because we were lead to believe that this was a healthy kitten. In fact, here's an excerpt directly from their website.

"All our cats have been carefully screened by our kennel manager. They are up to date on all vaccinations and dewormings..."

I spoke to multiple people, who were polite, but unable to help much -- until I was connected with Ryan. This is when the politeness left the conversation, and I was questioned to the nth degree on which vet I took my kitten to, how did they test him, what medication did they give him, etc. Mind you, this was while he was holding a physical copy of the veterinary's check-up notes that I faxed over...

I am at a loss for words at how appalled I am by this complete and utter lack of responsibility. I'm disappointed that they did not even attempt to try and make things right - it is infuriating.

All in all, I'm just happy that we were able to get him away from Friendly Pets. It's very clear that their level of care is seriously lacking. It seems like they care less about the wellfare of their animals and customer service than to make a quick profit.

If it was possible to give this place less than one star bet a lot of people would. We went to this location to get a dog for Christmas to help me with my intense anxiety. It was not until after we agreed to buy the puppy did they inform us that she has a little runny stool and to us these unidentifiable tablets in her food to help her. Even the vet we took her too had no idea what they were. After only having my beautiful puppy for three days we have had to take her to the vet 2 times and ended up with 400 dollars in bills. Her "little runny stool" turned out to be a bacterial infection, a parasite infection, and anemia from low proteins brought on from the infections. The vet said that they are all from being locked up with other dogs in the same cage and not cleaning up after they use the bathroom or generally caring for the animals. It also does not help that they have ridiculous pricing for the dogs and we ended up paying 2.4k for this sick non papered puppy.
If my review does anything i hope if helps others to not jump into decisions like we did and research better. I have fallen in love with this dog but she is so sick i could have lost her at any moment to the illness. If i had the power i would shut this store down in a heart beat. They should not be allowed to have any animals in their care and frankly should not be allowed to own any personal pets. Its straight up animal cruelty.

The employees here (which are just inexperienced teenagers) are very rude. I was waiting in line to ask a young lady if she would allow me and my friend to hold a puppy, and she purposely skipped me and ask the person behind me what their question was. I feel as if this pet store is not what the claim to be and also the puppies are kept in horrible conditions they are kept in small little cages with their waste everywhere and the employees claim to let them out everyday and play with them. I was not pleased with my visit here and will never come back. I highly do not recommend you support this horrible "pet store" and adopt from a reputable breeder or from a local shelter.

This place keeps their animals in abhorrent conditions. Bird cages are not locked. I've seen kids teasing and almost hurt an Eclectus parrot that was in a cage unattended.Another Eclectus was playing with a ballpoint pen near the front of the store (bad idea, the ink is poisonous to them, and he could easily bite through the pen). The parrots are all fed seed food, which is a huge no-no. The fish tanks were dirty and nearly all of them had dead fish of varying degrees of decay in them. Looks like the store is run by a bunch of teenagers that don't know what they're doing. Do not give these people your business for anything until they clean up the way they treat their animals.
