MUST READ!! A Wet Pet is a great locally owned fish store. I have had a fish tank since high school and have always gone to Petco for my aquarium needs. Within the last 4 months I decided to upgrade to a reef tank. While I never had any complaints of the services I received at Petco, I decided I wanted to find a local business that had excellent knowledge about these complex systems. I walked into A Wet Pet with no intention of buying anything that day. I was pleasantly greeted by the owner, Greg, who talked with me for 30 minutes. I was never pressured to buy anything and he said I could come back anytime if I had questions about my future build. A few weeks later I returned to purchase a used 55 gallon reef ready tank and stand with a light, sump, and protein skimmer. Greg was very helpful explaining how to set up the tank and sump. I had to do all of the plumbing by hand as it did not come with a kit. He was more than happy to make me diagram with all of the components needed and the correct sizes of pipe. Guess what, I got home and it all fit together just like he said it would. The system was tested with water and the sump had a small leak at the gasket. This was easily fixed with some aquarium safe silicone. I filled the tank with salt water and started the cycle. I returned to A Wet Pet and asked about live rock. I got a great deal on some live rock from their main reef tank to seed the base rock. Once my tank completed cycling, I bought a pair of beautiful clowns, two blue electric damsels, two and blue/green chromas. I also bought a small cleanup crew. Acclimated all of these to my tank and everything is healthy and doing great! Since then, I have returned to A Wet Pet to buy a gorgeous gorgonian and mushroom corals. The prices at A Wet Pet are more expensive compared to online stores and some of the surrounding stores; however, they are a “mom and pop” store and have to pay the bills. I have no problem supporting a hard working small store. They have a great selection of fish and items many local chain stores do not carry. I wish they would sell RODI water :) With regard to returns/exchanges, I bought two T5HO lights which did not fit in my custom made lighting unit from Hamilton Technology Company. I brought the opened lights back to the store without the boxes and they allowed me to exchange them for credit no questions asked. For those people who have had bad experiences with the customer service aspect, my assumption is it had something to do with attitude. Every time I enter the store I am always polite and respectful. In return I get the same treatment. If you go in with “guns blazing” don’t expect smiles. Greg and Janet only want the best for their customers. They contain a wealth of knowledge and are always happy to help. I will admit I have had a few frustrations but they are always willing to work with me and make sure I am a valued customer. I give them an A+. Check out their inventory, ask questions, and enjoy the hobby. I also recently started taking pictures for their Facebook site (www.facebook.com/awetpet). Check it out. Lots of cool stuff.

We made a deal to extange some...

HORRIBLE SERVICE! ! We made a deal to extange some fish for store credit. I came in with the fish just to quickly drop them off. The girl was with someone and said I will be right with you. She made me wait for literally 15 minutes. I was obviously annoyed waiting. Anyway we went to the store to use the credit and the owner said no we dont do that for THOSE fish. He had also already sold them and refused to give us anything for it while the girl just sat there and watched. We called the girl out on it and they said no. Aka they are horribly rude theives and I hope they get closed down!! I highly recommend going to ANY OTHER store to get what you need!
