Great store I love this place Sue is great and so is the owner. They both have saved my fish with their advice many times.

Very nice store. The staff was nice and knowledgable. The lady there helped me with my bird questions and the gentleman was very helpful with my pond issues. I will recommend them to all my friends for their pets.

One of the best stores in the NC/SC. Great store I have four birds, three snakes, and a gecko all have come from Fins and Critters. The staff is the most helpful I have found and very knowledgeable. I have been to a lot of stores in my 32 years of dealing with birds and animals and these guys are great. I would recommend them to anyone. I don't do fish but they have a huge fish selection.

I was pretty impressed with their fish and coral selections. Then again, I know nothing about fish husbandry, so if a tank was set up wrong for a certain species or if certain species were together that shouldn't have been, I wouldn't have known. But visually, the fish and fish related products looked very nice.
BUT...
I can't say the same for the herps and birds. I DO know a lot about reptile husbandry for many species and I can't say that they had any reptile enclosures that met even the minimum requirements. All the reptiles were either on sand or bark. Bark is appropriate for some species, but certainly not all of them. And in the herp communities (at least the herp communities where people actually know what they're talking about) sand is usually recommended against. There were no hides in any of the snake enclosures, and multiple snakes (ball pythons in particular) were housed together. Some snakes had bad sheds stuck all over their bodies. I never saw a sign of any thermometers or heat lights in any enclosure. Maybe they had under tank heating for some of them, I couldn't tell. All the enclosures were lit with fluorescent lights. I doubt these fluorescents were UVB for the species that needed UVB. The only food I saw were pellets in a couple cages (for the geckos I think) and I cringed to think that these animals don't receive fresh veggies or live bugs. All the animals just looked kind of pitiful and listless. I can only hope that these enclosures were only for display during business hours and they the animals are provided appropriate housing otherwise...
As for their selection of reptile supplies, I was not impressed.
And the birds... Each bird cage was covered with what seemed like weeks and weeks worth of poop and trash on the bottom. I mean, there is no way the amount of waste was created in one or two days, even for multiple birds in the same cage. Yes, I've kept birds and I know how fast their poops pile up, and the condition of these cages was absolutely ridiculous.
I won't be visiting again.

I had a very bad experience while dealing with this pet shop and would not recommend it at all! The staff knew very little about the products and animals--- to the point of putting animals at risk. I was totally shocked about how rude and unhelpful they were.
