Shannon,

We would like to apologize again that you had to witness our encounter with the impolite patient who tried to purchase “not for resale” trial contact lenses from us. We do not participate in the illegal and unethical sale of trial lenses provided to us by the manufacturer at no cost; therefore, we felt obligated to defend ourselves when she accused us of selling trial lenses to her in the past. We are happy to provide complimentary lenses to our patients during the contact lens fitting process and under special circumstances when necessary.

We are disappointed that you did not give us the chance to complete your contact lens evaluation/fitting process. Contact lens fittings are not a one size fits all but is tailored to each individual patient. Sometimes, the fitting takes one visit and other times, the fitting takes multiple visits and lenses. If we had known you were not satisfied with the last pair of lenses dispensed to you, we would have rechecked your prescription and fitted you into a different lens. We always recommend annual eye examinations because your prescription and shape of your cornea can change every year, and even every 6 months for some patients. I am not surprised that your most recent eye examination found a different prescription from the year before. We hope this helps you understand what you witnessed and the contact lens evaluation process a little better and wish you the best with your new eye care practitioner going forward.

Melissa,

We apologize that you felt you were not treated with respect. Those were not our intentions. We only wanted to explain that we are obligated by Texas law to perform a contact lens evaluation/fitting annually before releasing a contact lens prescription. As a new patient, we would have had to done our due diligence in giving you a thorough comprehensive eye examination and contact lens evaluation before releasing a finalized prescription. Below you will find a link to the Texas Optometry Board administrative code explaining the requirements for a contact lens exam. We hope this helps you understand why there is an additional charge for a contact lens evaluation.

Best regards,

Brilliant Eye Care

I made an appointment with Dr Le for contacts and glasses. I went in and the appointment went well. It was in the waiting room that everything blew up. Another customer came in and said she needed to purchase another set of contact lenses. The customer was very polite until the Dr and the assistant talked to her very condescendingly. Dr Le at one point yelled at her and called her a liar. After the matter she didn't apologize for the incident. As for my contacts, I couldn't see clear from the moment I put them in. I told her that it was not quite clear. She gave me glass monocals to put over my eyes and I played with them and realized that If I held one over one eye it was perfect! I was so excited! She responded, "that does not make sense. I'll order you both". Also that my eyes were exactly the same prescription even with astigmatism. So it's a year later and I went to see a new Dr and he says my eyes are very different and that she was a power off in each eye. So completely waste of money and my time.

The office manager was incredibly rude to me, and so I just cancelled appointments for myself and my two children. the frustrating this is that causes far more disruption for me, than it does for Brilliant Eye Care, but I do not need to be treated like an idiot by anyone. I called back this morning to confirm our three appointments, and asked about the contact lenses fitting fee. In 20+ years of wearing contact lenses I have only paid a contact lens fitting fee when I am changing lenses and do not have my current lenses with me. If their office policy is to charge for a fitting if no actual fitting is done, well that is there policy and it is up to me to take or leave it. However, in trying to understand the policy the Office manager first spoke to me very condescending manner, and when I asked him politely not to speak to me that way, he interrupted me to let me know he is the "office manager" and that I am not an eye doctor. Use Billiant Eye Care at your own risk!
