Dental Examination
During a dental exam, we will inspect each side of each tooth, looking for any signs of damage or decay. We examine the gums and surfaces of the mouth for any signs of issues.
X-rays

Teeth Cleaning
Dental hygienists traditionally perform scaling by hand. However, new and advanced technology has led to more modern methods such as electric scalers. This sophisticated tool allows dental cleanings to be performed more efficiently and in less time. To achieve best results, both electric and manual scaling methods are combined for dental cleanings.

Fillings
Gold fillings are custom made in a laboratory and then cemented into place. While gold fillings are often the most expensive choice, many consider it the best filling material. Gold inlays are well-tolerated by gum tissues and may last more than 20 years.
Resin Composite
The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
Veneers
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
Crowns
One of these breakthrough instruments is called CEREC. This is an acronym meaning Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. CEREC allows your dentist to quickly create crown for the patient in just one visit. This crown is made from a high-quality ceramic material that is made to match the color of your natural teeth.
Bridges
Dental bridges, like implants and partial dentures, are used to replace missing teeth. There are several types of fixed dental bridges (cannot be removed), including conventional fixed bridges, cantilever bridges and resin-bonded bridges.
Dental Bonding
Bonding is a process of using a synthetic enamel-like material to repair chips and cracks, or resculpt the shape of the tooth.

Root Canal Treatment
Endodontics is the dental specialty that deals with the nerves of the teeth. Root canals are probably the most notorious procedure in dentistry and the most common procedure relating to endodontics. When a tooth becomes infected it is usually related to the nerves in the root of the tooth. The infected nerves need to be removed. If left untreated an infection can turn into an abscess, which is a much more serious problem that includes bone loss in the jaw.

Dr. Scott joined the Dental Associates of Grand Junction in 2011.
