Mid City Gym & Tanning

MY LOW RATING IS BECAUSE OF MID CITY'S GYMS TOTALLY UNSCRUPULOUS BUSINESS PRACTICES. FIRST OFF NEVER SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THEM. THEY WILL SCREW YOU SHOULD YOU HAVE A REASON TO TERMINATE THE CONTRACT EARLY. I SIGNED A YEAR LONG CONTRACT WITH THEM. HALFWAY THROUGH THE YEAR I SUFFERED A SERIOUS BACK INJURY AT MY JOB. I WASN'T GOING TO BE ABLE TO TRAIN FOR A VERY LONG TIME. MID CITY'S CONTRACT STATES THAT A CONTRACT CAN BE TERMINATED IF A PERSON CAN MEDICALLY DOCUMENT THAT THEY HAVE A SERIOUS LONG TERM INJURY. MY PHYSICIAN WROTE A MEDICAL NOTE IN EXACTING DETAIL THAT SHOWED I HAD A LONG TERM MEDICAL DISABILITY. THIS NOTE EASILY SATISFIED MID CITY'S REQUIREMENTS FOR TERMINATING A CONTRACT. THIS LETTER WAS SENT TO MID CITY THREE SEPARATE TIMES BUT THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE LETTER. I CALL AND THEY STATE THAT THEY NEVER RECEIVED IT. I REFUSE TO PAY THEM ANOTHER CENT. THEIR SCUMBAG FINICIAL COMPANY ABC FINICIAL CALLS ME ALMOST EVERY DAY TRYING TO COLLECT.

I would highly recommend to Mid City Gym & Tanning. They are Personal Trainers.

Training at Mid City Gym & Tanning can be described as a revelatory experience for me.

Mid City Gym & Tanning is offers world-class Personal Trainers and services, and the equipment is amazing.

I find the previous review ("I hate Jews") posted with the claim that the owners/staff of this gym have made racist and anti-Semitic comments to members astonishing. I would be incredulous to read that sort of complaint about any business in Midtown Manhattan, much less this gym, of which I was a member last year.



The membership of the place is very diverse, it's rarely crowded, the equipment is new, and you are unlikely to find better prices anywhere in the city for a no-frills fitness club.



I was about to renew my membership here, and now am hesitant. But it seems probable that this review was fabricated by somebody with an axe to grind (or company competing with MidCity for business). I certainly hope so.



Do not let this review discourage you from meeting the staff and trying the place out. Make your own judgment about the gym; as someone (for the record, a white male) who has really enjoyed this club, I can say that I have never observed that kind of behavior from anyone who works there.
