My animal got sicker after taking him to this place. I found out that the hospital has been sued many times, and that they were investigated for employing unlicensed personnel who caused animals to die or get hurt unnecessarily.

My cat became MUCH SICKER AND HAD TO BE PUT DOWN after I took him to this hospital, THREE TIMES IN LESS THAN ONE WEEK. The hospital gave him DOG MEDICATION which is UNAPPROVED by the Food and Drug Administration for the use on cats, on admission of the veterinarian who treated him. My cat suffered from acute kidney injury after he was admitted to this hospital last week.
Furthermore, the HOSPITAL STAFF CAUSED MY CAT A VISIBLE INJURY and failed to treat him for the injury that they caused, or even document it at the time they caused the injury or as soon as they became aware of the injury that they caused from their reckless disregard for his safety/well-being.
When I brought him home I noticed that he had fresh blood on his arm which the hospital caused. The veterinarian in charge of his care, Dr. Janine Calabro, ADMITTED that she knew about the injury caused by the hospital yet she failed to treat him upon learning about the injury, nor did she record it in his medical chart.
I understand that she is trying to MISLEAD the investigation taking place against her for ANIMAL CRUELTY/NEGLECT/ABUSE, and that she failed to disclose to the investigating officer that she treated my cat ONLY after I threatened to contact the DC Government about her "continued negligence."
The hospital has been sued and/or complained against many times by consumers. In fact, I understand that the hospital and/or its owner Dr. Peter Glassman have been cited in the past by the DC Government and litigants for unlawfully allowing unlicensed personnel to treat innocent animals at this hospital, which allegedly caused harm to the innocent animals who are beloved pets.
I understand that Friendship Hospital For Animals is currently under investigation for ANIMAL ABUSE/NEGLECT by the Humane Rescue Alliance.
I understand from the DC Department of Health that a thorough investigation will take place against Friendship Hospital for Animals and the negligent Dr. Janine Calabro, and possibly the owner, Dr. Peter Glassman.

A few years ago I took my French Bulldog to be seen because he was mysteriously losing weight. They could not determine the cause , but they prescribed a drug for him (Buprinex) for pain (even though he didn't appear to be any pain. On the drive home, He was panting unusually heavy. By the time I got home (approximately 20 minutes) His tongue was blue and he collapsed. I rushed him back to the hospital and told the doctor I think he had an adverse reaction to the medication. She dismissed the idea and said it was probably the heat ( It was a pleasant late afternoon in October). They had to keep him for hours to stabilize him and I had to return home to take care of my other dogs and cats. I looked up the drug , Buprinex, and I found out that dogs with respiratory issues (French Bulldogs have smashed faces ) should never be given this drug. They continued to deny their mal-practice and nearly killed my Stanley. I not only paid for the visit (several hundred dollars) where he was given the nearly lethal injection, but I also had to pay several hundred dollars for his overnight stay. it was one of the worst experiences that I have ever had to deal with. I at least hope they learned from that experience what not to give certain breeds.

The quality of the medical care is outstanding and I feel very secure knowing any problems will be detected and treated properly.
