Had a delightful Christmas Tea with my mother today thanks to a groupon for tea for two. For future reference, you don't actually have to buy the groupon or bring it with you when you go. You just have to call and ask the owner. When we arrived at the tea house and it looked like a Christmas card: this little house was decorated eloquently with garlands, gold decorations and even had its window shudders and trim painted red for the holidays. The lovely owner greeted us when we entered and escorted us to the a table upstairs that was already set up. Again, there was an old-world Christmasy charm to the decorations in the room that went right down to the teacups. She left us for about 10 minutes to serve the other party, which was just enough time for us to take in the decorations, and returned with shrimp and corn chowder ( which was to die for), fresh grapes, and a lovely Christmas blend black tea served with cream in a winter themed teapot . After we finished, she promptly returned, repoured our tea, and served each of us the second course: two sandwiches ( chicken salad and pimento cheese), a petite four, and a scone, served to us on a two tiered tea tray. The chicken salad had just the right amount of relish, the pimento cheese had real cheese and just enough pimentos to cut the richness, and the petite fours were a delightful almond angel-food cake with a lemon glaze that was impossibly light and airy. After we finished, we talked for a bit, and finished the last of the tea. We left full of warm tea, delightful food, and holiday cheer. I can't wait to go again.

The Virginia Historical Tea Society had the pleasure of visiting the Stillwater House Tea Room on February 14, 2015 for a fabulous Valentine's Day Afternoon Tea. The ambience and décor were breathtaking. The music in the background was a pleasant addition. Diane, the owner and her staff met us at the door, took us to our tables and took our tea order immediately. We had made reservations for the Afternoon Tea and could not have been more pleased. The attention to detail was obvious in everything from preparation to service. The soup, scones, savories, sweets and unlimited pots of tea was all homemade and the portions were most generous. The staff was very attentive and met our every need. This tea room rates five stars in our book. All tea rooms owners should strive to succeed in customer satisfaction as Diane has with her lovely tea room. I encourage everyone who enjoys tea to visit The Stillwater House Tea Room for a relaxing and fulfilling afternoon.
