Professionalism

I cannot recommend Lake Forest Animal Hospital enough. Dr. Amy has been wonderful to work with and everyone of the office staff that we have interacted with have been great. We just recently switched after comparing prices with the vet we had been going to. And we have never looked back. We recommend Lake Forest to all of our friends and family who have pets because they are very thorough and know what they are doing. If I could give 10 stars, I would!

I have been going here for over 6 years. They have new receptionists who are very welcoming. I think my dog has seen all four of the vets over the years we have been clients and we love them. Their support staff is very caring. Like I said before, I cannot imagine taking my dog anywhere else!

Overall
Rude receptionists, lied about EVERYTHING

My husband and I got a kitten in April 2008 named Opal, and another one in July 2008 named Harley.

We got Opal from a woman whose house cat had gotten out and came home pregnant. When we took Opal to the vet for the first time at 6 weeks old. They de-wormed her and said to bring her back in 2 more weeks for her upper respiratory infection shot. We did, and 3 days later, she contracted upper respiratory infection, so we had to pay an arm and a leg to take her back AGAIN to get antibiotics and eye cream. They then told us that after getting that shot, she'd be good to go for another year. When I was signing the receipt that day, I noticed that they'd spelled my name incorrectly and had the wrong address. I told them about it every time we went back, but they never fixed it. In June 2008, Opal started sneezing and getting sick again, so I called and they acted like I was some kind of animal abuser or something and FLIPPED OUT and said she was 2 weeks late for her URI booster shot. Keep in mind, they'd told me that she only needed one shot for it. A few weeks later, at 4 months old, we got her spayed. She of course just bummed around for a few days. They never gave me any antibiotics or pain medicine for her. 4 days after she was spayed, her incision ripped open and got infected. I was so irate with the vet by this point. I took her in, they made me pay an arm and a leg to look at her, then they told me it was "completely normal". Bull crap.

The morning we'd dropped her off to get spayed, they had a kitten up for adoption. He was 9 weeks old and they said he was "up to date on all his shots" and we paid $60 for him which was to cover the cost of being neutered. We paid it. We had him neutered about 2 weeks later. About 3 weeks after that (August 2008), he started acting kind of mopey. We called and they said that sometimes, male kittens lose some of their crazyness and energy after having their balls chopped. We believed him. Two days later (Sunday), he started throwing up and had this disgusting diarrhea that was just yellowish water (like pee). The only vet open was an emergency vet. We took him. They said he had giardia. It's a parasite that is VERY uncommon where we live. He's never been outdoors in his life, and we give him Purina food and filtered water. He suggested that he may have contracted it when he got neutered. We paid $126 to have him taken care of.

That was my last straw for this vet. I would rather take my pets to a witchdoctor in Timbucktu or something before I'd ever take them back to Lake Forest Animal Hospital. I would NEVER advise anyone else to take their little buddies there either!
