Pet Med Ctr of Clear Lake

I have been going to Pet Med Center before Dr. Adams took it over. She is very patronizing especialy if you have questions about what she says or do not have the money to do more than the basics. I have 3 dogs and I can not afford annual teeth cleanings. I try to rotate every year. One of my dogs is a stray taken in only a year ago. She has heart worms. We can not afford to treat her. Dr. Adams was very patronizing and refused to talk to us about options (said there were no options). Finally after a 6 months check up she said we could give her something to keep it from progressing although there is a small risk some years from now of stroke from dead worms. I went in today to get some more medicine and she refused because the dogs were due for a heart worm test. She would not even speak to me. Her message was relayed through the office manager. I told her that one of them had heart worms and I could not afford to treat any of them if the test was possitive. My only option is to continue treating them all to try to prevent or slow down the progression. The office manager said rudely that was their policy. I was not given any options. I was very upset that my healthy dogs would have to go untreated for now and surely get heartworms this summer. I had to research otions on the internet and found the Humain Society has a discount clinic. I will be going there from now on.

I took my extremely ill turtle, Clark, to see Dr. Adams just a few days ago. While the service in making my appointment was quick and sweet (they took me in that same day), the Dr made me feel belittled and stupid. She spoke very loud at me and cut me off while I was talking, and as I described the most common symptoms of a respiratory infection in turtles, she wouldn't listen and insisted that I start changing the water more often. She refused to prescribe him anything because he didn't look "that bad," but she had listened to nothing that I told her! Now Clark is even worse and I'm left paying for an outrageous pet bill, all so that she could make me feel dumb in front of that snickering nurse and tell me to feed him more spinach. Maybe she's good for dogs and cats, but don't take an exotic to this woman.
