- Children can only realize their fullest potential if they are able to develop a positive self-image. At Cupertino Cooperative Nursery School ( CCNS ) we believe children thrive in our environment, where there are confident people who like, understand and respect them, and a safe, stimulating and supportive environment for them in which to learn and grow. We believe that play is the most effective means available to young children to accomplish integration and growth. Our goal is to provide the time, space, materials and guidance needed by children to optimize their play experience. * Abundant creative play and movement exploration opportunities to develop physical and mental skills. ( Sand, mud, and water, painting and cooking, arts and crafts, carpentry, puzzles and games. ) * An introduction to more formalized learning. Our preschoolers begin to explore the worlds of science, music, and drama, of colors, numbers, letters, and shapes. * Field trips. Frequent field trips to diverse and exciting places, such as a farm, bakery, planetarium, museum, and even a ride on a train, familiarize the preschoolers with a larger world

CCNS is a wonderful place to experience the preschool years with your child. The school has an AMAZING yard, great resources, and the best teachers you could ever ask for. What sets CCNS apart from other schools is that parents gain as much from the program as their children do. I have made lasting friendships with other moms, and the Parent Education program has given me confidence in my parenting skills. My daughter was not only 100% prepared for kindergarten, but she also learned conflict resolution and social skills that will last a lifetime. Cupertino Co-op truly is a special place!

It's not just a school -- it's a great community. You work with parents and teachers in the classroom, so your child has the benefit of 9 adults in the classroom every day (ratio better than 1 adult to every 3 children). There are chickens, bunnies, rats and fish -- cared for communally. Parenting meetings (a general topic every month + a meeting with your workday team). Great events outside of the classroom that involve the whole family. Field trips, too! You get the opportunity to meet and work with great teachers and parents who are at the same stage of parenting. Classroom work really prepares for Kindergarten: conflict resolution, sharing, working and playing with others, participating in circle time, sharing a snack, using manners, basic math skills (sorting, counting, etc.), communication skills (using words, listening, etc.) animal phonics in the PM class -- all in a play-based environment. Teachers who really care! It's a great place to be a preschooler -- and a pre-school family.

Wonderful co-op preschool. Excellent director and teachers; well-run organization.
Great family events like Winter Festival (with snow!), camp-out with Dad, and movie night.
