        Couple guys came over to hook up a water softener with filter. They looked around for a minute and gave me a quote of $1,400; I told them that was way off. That ridiculous quote or "service call" cost me $59.

        Earlier today I went to Home Depot, bought $99 worth of supplies and installed it myself in less than an hour. It was also my first time doing any plumbing.

        So, if any of you need a water softener installed give me a call and I'll do it for $140, not $1,400.
