La Petite Academy in Smyrna, TN is a glowing example of a rich learning environment. All of the staff are professional and give me great feedback regarding my grandchildren. If a person writes a bad review about La Petite it's because their child was dismissed for behavior issues or the parent wasn't paying their tuition. I'm glad La Petite dismisses children for behavior problems instead of letting the problem go on. I am saddened to see so many parents not take responsibility for their children's behaviors now-a-days and blame the preschool, teachers, and society for their child being out of control. Be your child's parent people, not their friend!!! Great job La Petite Academy teachers and management!!

My oldest child who is know 9 ...

My oldest child who is know 9 started here at LPA Smyrna when he was 2 months old. He has always excelled in school and I worked with him alot to get him ready for Kindergarten. He is now in a Magnet school and I couldn't have done it myself. She was a wonderful loving and compassionate teacher. My now 5 year old is getting ready to start Kindergarten this fall and I had some concerns because every child is different and he is not on the same level as my oldest son was. He doesn't really have a intrest to learn, however Ms.Andrea has got him so excited to go to "big school" and he can now do everything from writing his name, spelling site words, recognizing all his letters and the sounds they make, colors, numbers, and I could keep going. He has the attitude that he would rather learn from someone else than me or my wife. My daughter is in the Preschool program and she had some serious seperation issues, because she had stayed home with me for a month while I was unemployed. It took her a couple of weeks to get used to it which broke my heart, but the management and staff emailed pictures at work and called after I left to reassure me she was ok. I have truly been amazed how everyone there goes the extra mile to make the kids safe, happy and the parents as well all while they teach the children thinngs they need to know. I have read some of the negative reviews and all though I am not fully aware of the situation the parent that has made all these nasty threats and allegations told me about this situation and tried to get us to leave as well. Although i was VERY concerned by listening to her she told me she watched in the window for several minutes, I am sorry but if that were my child the police would be there arresting me and I sure wouldn't watch! I talked to managementy and they assured me the situation was being investigated and the Department of Human Services and DCS reported this case Unfounded and there was no police report on file. Also I come in all different times of the day and have never seen a teacher at the computer and they have never been written up for being out of ratio, so I highly doubt the teachers were allowed to come in and write fake reviews. I suggest that if you are looking for a childcare facilty to go tour the school yourself and as a parent you will know which one is a great place for your kids. Its really sad that someone tries to down such a great place because they obviously got kicked out. I am so happy and my kids are too!!!They are safe, secure, compassionate, loving and dependable and that says alot for a parent to feel like they have family taking care of their children!

My daughter loves her teachers...

My daughter loves her teachers at La Petite. I am impressed on a daily basis with how much she is learning at this preschool. I try to work with her as much as I can but my husband and I work long hours during the week so we rely on the teachers at La Petite Academy for the majority of her education and they have really delivered. She is only two years old but she comes home every day with something new she had learned. Because of her teachers she is recognizing letters, knows shapes, numbers, and all of her colors. I owe her well being and education while I cannot be with her to the ladies at her preschool. I would highly recommend this preschool to anyone looking for good quality care.

I feel so good about having my...

I feel so good about having my child at La Petite in Smyrna. All of the teachers and management staff are so sweet, kind, and caring to my son. He is the apple of my eye and would never leave him with someone I didn't trust. They are very informative about his day and always greet us both with a big smile and hello. Even teachers that do not have my son in their room know his name and mine and that makes me feel so at home with them. Ms. Michelle runs a very organized ship over there and I can tell she loves what she does, the same goes for the teachers there also. Some of them have been there for 16 years! My sons teacher is one of those teachers. I just can't say enough good things about them. Don't listen to negative reviews because there are two sides to every story. The people who write negative reviews obviously have an agenda AND if this school did the things they say why isn't there a police record or a record of it from the state? I checked before enrolling my son last June and no record of any such offenses exist. Sounds to me like those parents, who are obvious bullies, were maybe asked to leave because of their own (or their child's) behavior or lack of payment...I'm just saying. My experiences with La Petite have been nothing but positive.

3 STAR PRESCHOOL

My name is Cheryl and I have been taking my children to the La Petite Academy in Smyrna for more than 3 years now and we can't enough good things about them. Their curriculum is far superior to their competitors and they have many long term teachers, which is important to us. I suggest you visit the school yourself before taking anyone's word. You'll see for yourself how clean the center is and how professional all of the management and teaching staff are. You get an A+ from me La Petite!

Clean, safe, and educational

La Petite Academy in Smyrna has been in business for over 30 years. They have many 15+ year teachers and teachers with extended educations. We've had our children here for a little over 3 years and truly appreciate the care they provide for our family. They are a 3 star rated facility!

I personally witnessed a daycare employee abusing my 16 mo. old toddler

I personally witnessed a daycare employee abusing my child as well of his 16 mo. old classmates. When you look at the front of La Petite Smyrna, at the very left of the building there is a window to a classroom. I saw the teacher mopping. As I observed, I became disturbed with how she continued to corrall the kids, huddled, in one small area of the room on the carpet so she could clean. She became angrier and angrier with my son who, obviously did not understand that he was suppose to stay on the carpet. She was gritting her teeth as she yanked them by the upper arm back over the the carpet. It was obvious that she was grabbing them pretty hard bc they looked pretty upset. She pushed my son back to the carpet more than once-all the while making angry faces. This continued for several minutes when my young toddler son got off the carpet again to bring her a block. She snatched it out of his hands and threw it across the room then shoved him hard on the back again. I went in, got my son and immediately spoke to the director. The “teacher” was put on leave for a week and was allowed to come back on a “safety plan” which meant that she could be there with the children but had to be with another adult at all times. Really!? I asked the director, if you have an adult working with small children that has to be with another adult at all times, doesn’t that tell you that they don’t belong? They tried to smooth it over with their little “safety plan.” Upon seeing that they allowed the teacher back my husband and I asked Michelle Jones, the director how the situation would be in reverse. “If you saw a parent abuse one of your employees, having inappropriate physical contact, would that parent be allowed back in this facility?” She stated “no.” I then went on to point out the obvious “Well then why in the world is this person who abused my helpless child allowed back in this building? To get a second chance at him?” She tried to quickly usher us out the door so that the other parents would not hear. Not only did this lead us to the sad realization that we had to leave because any daycare that allows a teacher to abuse the children with only a slap on the wrist (a week of leave) obviously 1) does not take this very seriously and 2) are not putting the children first, but the La Petite situation also put us in a scramble to find a new daycare immediately. I am sure that when they see this review, La Petite will again solicit current parents to write reviews refuting this information & give the ole “disgruntled ex-employee” explanation. If you would like to check into the validity of this review, just call the Smyrna Police department regarding my assault report on the La Petite employee. It happened in January 2011. The director, Michelle, is very good at what she does-as far as selling her daycare. She will tell you anything to your face & acts another way behind your back. She obviously is concerned with nothing more than the bottom line ($$$) for her corporate daycare than she is with the welfare of our most precious asset: our children!! Shame on La Petite! For the record, my son has been at his new daycare for several weeks now. He has come home with not ONE accident report or bruise on his body. Its amazing that with La Petite, we thought that bruises on his head and scratches on his arm were just a normal expectation of daycare!! Good luck to you La Petite. You can take your corporate daycare, your excuses of “it was not our decision,” blaming the choice to let this employee back on your higher ups and stick it! I have taken my son to a daycare that looks at him as a person, one that is more than a number in your corporate quota mill, someone who however small he is still deserves respect. I am truly disgusted with this daycare!

I'm very happy with our experience

My son was enrolled at this La Petite before but we had to move. When we came back to Smyrna I re-enrolled him at La Petite and had forgotten how much they do with the kids. My son comes home every night telling me what he learned that day at school and he's happy and that makes me happy.

We love it!

I'm a single mother of a 2 yr old son and I have to admit I'm really picky. When I toured La Petite I had my check list and wouldn't settle for anything but the best for my son. When the director gave me the tour she was very nice and answered all my questions and even spent some time with my son while I interviewed the teachers. My son is happy and is learning so much in the 4 months he has been there and I've been very impressed. All the teachers know my sons name and greets us both in the morning and in the evening, that means a lot to me. They are super clean too, another thing I didn't find at all the other places I visited in Smyrna. I am currently getting my sister to enroll her children there.

We wouldn't go anywhere else

My wife, kids, and I recently moved back to the area and we were looking for a good, clean, quality child care center. We found La Petite in Smyrna! Everyone from the Director, to the teachers, to even the cook is like an extension of our family and we could not ask for a better place for our children and yes we did check out LOTS of other places in Smyrna and La Petite beats them all hands down. My oldest child was accepted at the magnet school this fall and I am certain it had a lot to do with La Petite. Thanks for reading my review.

Outstanding!!!!!

We looked all over the Smyrna and Murfreesboro area for a good preschool and after much deliberation decided on the La Petite Academy in Smyrna because they are by far the cleanest, friendliest, and most educational based facility in the entire area! Ms. Michelle, the Director runs a tight ship and the teachers are ahead of the game in childcare. Our experiences have been nothing but positive and I will recommend this preschool to everyone I know. Good job La Petite!!
