General Info

The senior partner of Ihrie O'Brien, located in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, Robert D. Ihrie represents clients throughout the Detroit metropolitan area and across the state. He has a diverse practice, including criminal defense, family law, estate planning and administration, probate and elder law issues. Mr. Ihrie is also active in the firm's governmental law section, providing advice and counsel to local municipalities in a variety of matters, including defending them against lawsuits and drafting parental responsibility and other ordinances.As an undergraduate, Mr. Ihrie attended Wayne State University in Detroit and received a Bachelor of Science in 1973. He then pursued his legal studies at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1976. He is admitted to practice before all Michigan state courts.The high degree of ethics that Mr. Ihrie has exhibited throughout his career as well as his excellent track record on behalf of his clients has earned him the esteem of his fellow attorneys. This is evidenced by his receipt of an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.Mr. Ihrie has spoken on several topics for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the education provider of the State Bar of Michigan, in order to help other attorneys improve their own practices. He is also an active participant in several legal organizations, including the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys and the State Bar of Michigan.
