1900s
1897 Sykes is born
1935 Cecil Sykes officially opened Sykes as a market and meat counter in Downtown Kalispell, Montana.
1945 Doug and Judy Wise purchased Sykes- then just 25 feet wide with a wooden stove
2000s
2008 After 68 years of ownership, Doug and Judy began looking to sell Sykes. After potential buyers expressed a desire for demolition, Doug and Judy retained ownership and continued to operate the Pharmacy until 2010.
2010 Ray Thompson, a local business owner and engineer, decided to purchase Sykes after seeing a line of people going into the Pharmacy, despite the building being otherwise dark.
2010s
2010 Remodeling begins in September and adds apartments, a conference room, and a brand new kitchen. This remodeling was completed by Thanksgiving of that same year, allowing the largest annual Free Thanksgiving meal to date, serving over 1,200 people.
Today Sykes continues to be a staple of the Kalispell landscape.
