Oral Cancer Screening
In 2019, we purchased a digital panoramic and cone beam (CT) scanner. The improved diagnostic quality of our 3D digital images will greatly enhance our implant planning and cancer screening. At the same time we added all new computers in the front office and dental operatories in order to implement a new practice software so that we can become paperless. Every year I become more enthusiastic about my profession and our practice which I named Beachwood Contemporary Dentistry for obvious reasons.

Dental Sealants
Candy and sweets should not be part of a childâ€™s daily diet, but rather an occasional treat. Pop and energy drinks are doubly addictive because they contain sugar and caffeine. Parents, by example, can help their children avoid both addictions by avoiding these foods themselves. Starting at age 3, dental exams every six months will allow us to detect early decay and to reinforce good oral hygiene habits. Early decay can be eliminated with painless air abrasion and bonded fillings. Sealants can be placed on permanent molars to prevent inevitable decay in deep fissures. Most importantly, our children patients will not develop a fear of dental visits.

Fillings
Resin Composite
Since we no longer use mercury based silver fillings (amalgams), newer custom shaded fillings are beautiful, long lasting alternatives. Called composite resins, these fillings require less drilling and are bonded chemically to the tooth surfaces. These are ideal for small to medium sized fillings.
Veneers
Lumineers are contact lens thin veneers that require minimal or no tooth reduction. Porcelain veneers are used to straighten teeth, close gaps and improve the shape and color of teeth. CEREC porcelain veneers can transform your smile in one visit.
Crowns
If the filling involves three or more surfaces, we can save the strong parts of the tooth and replace the rest with a porcelain onlay. Using our CEREC porcelain milling system, we can fabricate and place the onlay in just over an hour. The porcelain is strong, beautiful and can avoid a crown altogether.
Bridges
Before dental implants, the fixed bridge was the best way to replace a missing tooth or teeth. The teeth on either side of the missing tooth are shaped to accept a crown and the bridge is fabricated and cemented onto the teeth. For shorter bridges CEREC can take and email 3D images of the prepared teeth to the dental lab and an all porcelain bridge can be ready to cement in only 3 days. Bridges with porcelain over a precious metal substructure require 2 weeks in the laboratory.

Root Canal Treatment
Dr. Cook will always find time to get his patients out of pain. Teeth can be saved with root canal therapy and in most cases the pain eliminated immediately. Extractions are sometimes necessary if the tooth cannot be saved.

Dentures
Traditionally, this removable restoration includes a metal framework and clasps with acrylic teeth. Newer materials allow us to make partial dentures without metal and tooth colored clasps for a more esthetic result.

Dental Implants
I enjoy the special training Iâ€™ve received in implant surgery and CEREC technology. I keep current with continuing education to remain a CDA (Certified Dental Assistant). Iâ€™ve gotten to know and shared many a laugh with our many loyal patients. My husband, Bob and I enjoy our country home and our hobbies of motor cycles and â€œmuscle cars.â€
