When Owner Harm Alken of Prior Lake isn't at the shop, you'll find him fine-tuning vehicle performance on the racetrack. Harm is #90 behind the wheel at Raceway Park in Shakopee for top division Late Model racing. More than 18 racecars rolled out for the June 8 grand opening of his new business, Prior Lake Transmission and Auto Services. It now services the city of Minneapolis fleet vehicles for the police department and other city crews and staff. The city of Minneapolis puts its trust in Harm and his mechanics. Excellent shop

I have had three transmissions done here as well as countless other repairs. Always honest and excellent customer service. They worked overtime on one of my transmissions so I could take a family vacation in the vehicle. I won't be patronizing the new auto store coming to town...buy local and support honest local businesses.

Never call back....

Called a couple times to have an idea of what some work would cost, but I guess it wasn't easy money? They never call back and never even quoted? I think only one guy, the owner really works or knows anything. jJust my opinion.

over priced cont.

I went back to explain what they forgot, and I was told that's what I asked for. And I would have to be charged more to have them finish what I wanted done. So in the end I paid 450 dollars to have this shop bend up some basic exhaust pipes, and weld on a couple mufflers. Seems a little pricey to me.... They just seem like they want to make that quick dollar

over priced/ not worth it.

So I had these guys install an exhaust setup on a pickup of mine. Dropped the truck off at about noon one day. I then told them to call me after they could look at it, and get me a price. I didn't hear from them all afternoon. So I ran down there to see what was going on. Once I got there they told me that they could do the job for 300-350 depending on how the job goes. Although I then thought that was pricey( seeing as I'm providing the mufflers), I agreed to do it. They called the next morning about 11am to tell me it was finished. When I was waiting to pay the bill, he informs me they came to a 450 dollar total now. I ask how that's possible, he then tells me that's how much it cost with all the labor. I was charged for around 4 hours of labor... To put on 2 easily bent exhaust pipes. And after I got the truck home and looked it over, I noticed they didn't put turn downs on the rears of the mufflers. So the exhaust is just blowing on my rear end. I went back to explain what they f

Honest and straight forward

I gave them a mess with my Mountaineer. He quoted me a price and even though the job was time consuming and should have cost more they stuck by the price. He stated that customer satisfaction was more important and he will stand by his price.Nice people, Nice job.

Honest Shop!

I have transmission problems. I know, I did the research, and kept all my notes to myself... and waited for their assessment. I had heard about dealerships not checking electrical, not checking the solenoids, and just choosing the easiest, most expensive solution. The folks at the shop went through all the checks. They check everything, and tried to keep the costs to a minimum. Unfortunately, to my worst fears, there was metal shavings all in the transmission fluid, and my damn vehicle needs a $5,500 transmission. They searched around for other transmissions, and got the cost down to around $3,200 (thousands less than the online research).Unfortunately, this was still too much out of pocket expense. When I told them that I could not afford the repairs and that I would be just paying them for the diagnosis, they REFUSED to receive any payment. The mechanic said, "It is more important to us to have a good reputation in the community than to make a few quick dollars."WOW!
