Many people are self-conscious about their smiles because their teeth are decayed, disfigured or discolored due to age, heredity or lifestyle habits. In many such cases, we can apply composite resins to restore these teeth to a healthy, strong, white smile. A composite resin is a silicon dioxide-filled tooth-colored plastic mixture used by dentists for improving teeth both structurally and cosmetically. Such 'white fillings' are an excellent solution for highly visible areas of the mouth. Of course, if fillings are required in less visible areas of the mouth, we continue to recommend traditional silver fillings.

Crowns
If you're given a temporary filling, we will probably remove it at a second visit, then fill the pulp chamber and canal with either a rubber-like substance called gutta percha, or another recontamination prevention material. If your tooth is weak, we may insert a metal post above the canal to reinforce it. Finally, once we've filled the cleaned out area, your tooth is permanently sealed. As a last step, Dr. Jeppson will typically strengthen the tooth's structure and improve its appearance with a gold or porcelain crown.
Bridges
If you choose to have a bridge, you'll need to be especially conscientious about your oral hygiene to ensure that the anchoring area doesn't retain trapped food particles. This means twice daily brushing, daily flossing, and regular professional cleanings at our office. Sometimes we'll even recommend using floss threaders to help remove bacteria from hard to reach spaces between the bridge and your adjacent teeth and gums. If you omit this care, food debris and plaque will build up on your remaining teeth, quietly and steadily leading to gum disease or recurrent decay. Unfortunately, gum disease can result in the need to remove the bridge altogether, and recurrent decay can result in the entire bridge having to be replaced. However, with proper oral hygiene, you can expect your fixed bridge to last at least 8-10 years.

Dentures
A toothless span lacking a posterior abutment tooth cannot be bridges using traditional fixed bridgework. Instead, either bridgework cemented to implant abutments, or individual single unit implants are used to replace the missing teeth. Partial dentures can also be used to restore gaps lacking a posterior tooth.

It's not uncommon for adults to lose teeth due to accident, injury, disease or extraction. In such cases, we may recommend dental implants as a secure, functional replacement option because they do not rely on neighboring teeth for support. Instead, they're permanently, surgically anchored to the jawbone as tooth root substitutes. The implant's stability helps restore normal eating ability, provide face muscle support, and prevent jawbone atrophy.

When it comes to general oral surgery, we work with both precision and care. First, we’re careful to analyze your particular situation and determine whether extraction is the best option. If so, we take all the time necessary to explain the procedure, allay any fears, and keep you comfortable. And in cases where a specialist is advisable, we’ll provide an excellent and trustworthy referral.
Tooth Extractions

Teeth Whitening
Smile about the easy process. If you’re considering having your smile brightened, simply discuss your specific goals with Dr. Jeppson so that he can help you evaluate how whitening might impact your particular situation. Once you’ve decided to become a “Brite Smile” person, the process is quite simple. First, Dr. Jeppson will spend time answering any questions you may have. After confirming the health of your teeth and gums, we’ll protect your gums and mouth with isolation materials and take a ‘before’ photograph. Next, Dr. Jeppson will apply the special “Bright Smile” gel to your teeth, which he’ll activate via a blue plasma gas lamp for about 20 minutes. Over the next hour, he’ll repeat this process twice, bringing your teeth to their brightest possible white. After the third application, you’ll simply rinse, smile for an ‘after’ picture, and be on your way… sporting beautiful, clean, white teeth.
