Burkard Homes

I’ve lived in my Burkard Homes LLC house for 6 weeks now. I always hate the reviews where someone buys a new fridge and leaves a review before it is even out of the box. What does that do for me? I’m 6 weeks in so I’ve confirmed the walls don’t fall down if I slam the front door. I’m the first house completed in the new Turley’s meadow/overlook project in Ellicott City. I absolutely love my house and our custom selections. Burkard Homes LLC is a small firm of 4 people. Tim, the owner, we met on 2 or 3 occasions. He was very friendly and even got us an Edible Arrangement at closing. 99% of our contact was with Greg, the sales manager. We loved working with Greg and appreciated his straightforward approach and dry sense of humor. Phone calls and emails were always returned quickly. Down the stretch, we would see Greg almost every weekend during construction. I’m somewhat sad we haven’t seen Greg and now I feel like we should go over to the model to visit and say hello. Also, Greg is a huge car history buff and I always like learning new facts about the cars in the driveway. Walt is the construction manager. We met with Walt probably 6-8 times and always walked away impressed. Truth be told, the #1 reason we built with Burkard Homes LLC was a recommendation from a co-worker that instructed us that Walt was simply the best in the business and to trust in him with our dream house. Walt helped us place and design the door to our mudroom slightly off-center to maximize the storage. When my wife and I tied 1 to 1 in the vote for our exterior stone, we trusted in Walt to be the tiebreaking vote (I won by the way and the wife admits she loves the stone now!). The last team member we met was Jan. Jan did our final walkthrough and took over 3 hours to show us every detail of the house and even helped me idiot proof the water values with labels I could remember. Jan has been helpful even after closing and this is what stands out to me. For example, Verizon came out to install cable TV and insisted on drilling a hole in the brand new basement. I was outside losing my mind and saw Jan and called him over. He led the Verizon contractor all around the yard and showed him where the lines were located and ultimately prevented this idiot from drilling into my basement. Jan didn’t have to help, but he was there to step-in and help when I needed him. He also helped me adjust the kitchen cabinet shelves when I couldn’t figure out the top locking thing (stupidest invention ever!). Was my entire experience with Burkard Homes LLC perfect? No, there were minor bumps in the road and problems to solve. However, they were always quick to answer my call or email and address my concern head on. There is never going to be a process that is perfectly smooth, but to me the integrity of the company is what they do to address those concerns. We are very pleased with the end result of the house. I have already recommend several co-workers to check out Burkard Homes LLC and also my best friend. There is no bigger seal of approval I could give b/c if I was wrong, I would hear about it for the rest of my life.
